How we’ve organized the development process across 7 agile teams in two geolocations on a long-lasting project with 4000+ Java classes. A Quickoffice project has long story and we’ve faced the situation when we’re required to join efforts with three teams.
The talk will mostly concentrate on processes and how-tos we’ve used/introduced while working on the Quickoffice mobile application (one of the mobile office market leaders).
The goal of the talk is to give people knowledge on how to organize similar projects, show them pitfalls.
Following items will be covered:
- project milestones (two major releases with minimum gap, quality requirements, scrum backlog sharing),
- infrastructure (repositories structure and relationships, CI),
- transformations into Scrum cycle (starting from obvious: demo invitations should include our remote colleagues and up to the additional gap day in teams’ schedule. Plannings should be performed with regard to other’s teams backlog and sprint plans),
- areas of responsibilities across teams (code ownership, code review, back ports and forward ports, product delivery, QA activities, unit testing strategy)
